The path to 3D velocimetry data: overview and techniques for data-driven analysis
Stefano Discetti
Department of Bioengineering and Aerospace Engineering Universidad Carlos III de Madrid
Ph.D specialization: Energetic and Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace and Naval Engineering, Quality and Engineering Management
Goals: Introduction to some techniques for data-driven analysis with application to planar and volumetric velocimetry.
Topics: In the first module the student is introduced to the fundamentals of PIV and to the several options available to obtain volumetric velocimetry data. In the second module techniques for data-driven analysis are outlined, including Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD), Dynamic Mode Decomposition, Extended POD, Spectral POD. A brief overview of data assimilation approaches for CFD analysis will also be provided.
