Contents
The course will provide an introduction to research methods, including research paradigms and methodologies across different science, engineering, and management fields. The process of formulating questions, design of research approach, literature search and presentation of related work, analysis of results, verbal and written presentation skills, and research ethics will be discussed. Moreover, the students will be provided with an overview of the processes through which research results are disseminated within the scientific community and society. The course objective is to provide students with skills and tools to increase their chances of getting published and funded. More specifically the first part of the course will focus on the publication process and will include topics such as the peer review system, bibliometrics, and how to write and submit a research paper. In the second part the focus will be on writing proposals for public grants, applying aforementioned research methodologies..
